Some of my favorite memories with my friends as a young teenager was hanging out at Pontchartrain Beach especially after they starter the POP promotion, (Pay One Price) then you could ride all the rides as much as you wanted. As a younger child I remember those cool Vacuum trash cans they had a Lion and Elephant that you could hole up your trash by their mouth and the vacume would suck up everything. I loved that. One of the many things I wish would have lasted longer was Ponchartrain beach with that perfect location on Lake Ponchartrain at Lakeshore Drive and Elysian Fields Avenue. I don’t remember the concerts much but I know there was a Beach stage that featured a variety of acts from Elvis Presley to the Human Cannonball.
And who can forget the long running radio and TV commercials that we should all be able t sing along with…
…At the Beach, at the Beach, at Pontchartrain Beach. You’ll have fun; you’ll have fun, every day of the week. You’ll love the thrilling rides; laugh till you split your sides, at Pontchartrain Beach.
