HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

The driver of this Cadillac and his wife says mechanical failure of the vehicle caused it to plunge into their neighbor's house. Fortunately no one was injured, and the car suffered minor damage, but I still think there might have been some hanky panky business going on.

Fly Me To The Moon

There was an old song entitled "Fly Me To The Moon", and Jackie Gleeson used to say this to his wife Alice on "The Honeymooners" all the time; "You want to go to the moon"? Well a select few will get the chance to do just that the Golden Spike Company. For a mere $1.5 billion, the business is offering countries the chance to send two people to the moon and back, either for research or national prestige. And if you are an individual with that kind of money to spare, you too can go to the moon for a couple of days.

For most of us, we'll just have to wait until the price comes down before we can sign up, and by the the time that happens it will be time to check out.

A GREAT ACOMPLISHMENT

Katy Perry just celebrated her 28th Birthday, and she gets a rare present. She has just broken a record that has stood for 23 years. Her "Teenage Dream" album tied Michael Jackson's "Bad" album for having the most number one song on it, (5), and that hasn't happened in 23 years. What's next for the girl that likes to wear purple hair?

CELEBRATING 10 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS

It's hard to believe it's been over a decade since American Idol's first winner started making music, and she's celebrating with something most artists have to wait much longer to do. Kelly Clarkson will release her first Greatest Hits Cd "Chapter 1" on November 19th of this year.
She says the last decade "has been tough, but inspiring", and admits that it was a lot of pressure for a 19-year old girl to handle. But now she's 30 and Kelly says she is smart enough to know it's time to stop, catch her breath, and be proud of what she's accomplished.

ANOTHER ONE FOR THE RECORDS BOOK

This huge gourd weighed in at 2,009 pounds at a fair in Massachusetts over the weekend. It set a new world record in the Guinness for the first pumpkin ever to weigh more than a ton.

The man that grew the pumpkin got $5,500 for first place and another $10,000 as a bonus for breaking the one-ton mark. I guess it's not illegal to use steriods on pumpkins.

WELCOME BACK...MAYBE?

This is a picture I thought I'd never see at a football game. The regular NFL referees returned to the field in this Thursday night game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns. Now I guess we can quit complaining about guys who don't know what they're doing, and get back to complaining about guys who Do know what they're doing.

NO MORE SUPERSIZED SUGARY DRINKS IN EATERIES

New York is the first City to pass a rule banning super-sized sugary drinks at restaurants, concession stands and other eateries. The measure places a 16-ounce cap on bottled drinks and fountain beverages sold at city restaurants, movie theaters, sports venues and street carts. City health officials say the ban is necessary to combat a deadly obesity problem in this country. New Yorkers say the rule is gross government intrusion. It is not the governments job to regulate what we eat or drink, and the huge question now is, what's next?
