Is The 3rd Time Really A Charm?

Sir Paul McCartney is on his honeymoon for the third time. The 69 year old Beatle lead singer married American Nancy Shevell at central London's Town Hall over the weekend. It's the same place where he married Linda Eastman (his first wife) in 1969. His bride wore a dress designed by Paul McCartney's daughter, Stella McCartney. Barbara Walters was one of the guests and she just happens to be the second cousin of Pauls new bride. When asked how he feels, Paul replied, "I'm feeling married."

Lost Cat Is Back Home Thanks To Microchip

Animal rescue organizations tell you all the time how important it is to have your pets microchipped, and in this case it paid off for a family from Colorado. This cat named Willow managed to travel almost 18-hundred miles from Colorado to New York 5 years ago when she was a kitten, lived on the streets of New York until a man found her and notified Animal Care officials. Thanks to the microchip officials were able to locate Willow's family and reunite them. They still don't know how a kitten could have traveled that many miles without being hit by a car or eaten by a coyote. What's the old saying? Can you tell me how to get to Carnegie Hall? Maybe Willow wanted a taste of the Big Apple.

August Is The Deadliest Month On The Road

The chances of dying in a car crash are greatest in the month of August. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration records going back to 1994, more American die in car crashes in August than at any other time of the year. The deadliest days are on the weekends, since that's when people tend to run extra errands, visit family members or take more day trips, and when drunken driving increases. Saturdays have the most crash-related fatalities. Sundays were the second deadliest in 2009, with an average of 107 deaths, followed by 102 on Fridays. The good news is that August is half way over.

Where Will They Go?

The most popular company for movie rentals is about to lose some of it's customers. Netflix recently anounced a 60 percent price increase on it's DVD mail deliver service and it streaming movie plan. That set off a wave of angry customers and lit up the facebook and twitter accounts. 2 million customers have said they will cancel the service which seems like a lot, but keep in mind that Netflix says it has 25 million subscribers. I have the Netflix stream service only and I think it's a very good bargain compared to some of the other services. But I have to agree with the 2 million people that are canceling that the 60 percent increase is too much for the DVD delivery and the stream service.  Most people like to watch a movie on the weekends, and with the DVD delivery you only have time to order one movie  for the weekend, and once you watch it, you don't have time to return it to get another one before the weekend is up. The solution would be to put the new releases on the stream, so we can watch them anytime we get ready. That would justify a 60 percent increase in the price. A few words of caution for Netflix. Remember a lot of the customers you have now are the ones that used to go to Blockbuster to rent a movie, and we all know what happened to Blockbuster.

Highest Paid American Idol Contestants

Since we just finished season 10 of the nations most watched and favorite T.V. show, and already auditioning for season 11, I thought this would be a good time to take a look at how much money these overnight stars are making. Forbes has released it's annual ranking of the top earning American Idol alums and it comes as no surprise that Carrie Underwood tops the list. She surpassed Kelly Clarkson who was last years top earner. Her $20 million takes up 40 percent of the entire list. The big surprise this year was Adam Lambert who was a runner up on the show a couple of season ago. He's tied with Chris Daughtry for second place with an impressive $6 million. Fantasia Barrino is all the way up to number three with $4 million thanks to her reality show "Fantasia For Real", and her comback album "Back To Me", which is her highest charting album to date. Of the 12 Idols on the Forbes list, seven of them are women. This is interesting, considering no female contestant has won "American Idol" since Jordan Sparks won it in season 6. So will this latest group of Idol finalists (Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, and Pia Toscano be on that list next year? Here's the complete list. 1. Carrie Underwood: $20 million 2. Daughtry: $6 million (Tie), Adam Lambert: $6 million 3. Fantasia Barrino: $4 million 4. Jordin Sparks: $3 million 5. Kelly Clarkson: $2.5 million (She was in first place last year) 6. Jennifer Judson: $2 million 7. Kellie Pickler: $1.8 million 8. Clay Aiken: $1.5 million 9. Katharine McPhee: $1 million (Tie), David Archuleta & David Cook Near misses: Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox, and Ruben Studdard

Flood waters of the Mississippi River threaten a large oil refinery complex in Baton Rouge, May 13th. Flood waters from the Mississippi River pour over a levee on the Yazoo River, a tributary to the Mississippi River, north of Vicksburg, Miss. Water diverted from the Mississippi River spills through a bay in the Morganza Spillway in Morganza, La., Saturday, May 14. Water from the inflated Mississippi River gushed through a floodgate Saturday for the first time in nearly four decades and headed toward thousands of homes and farmland. Houseboats are secured to a tree due to water rising on the Atchafalaya River on May 15, in Henderson, La. Giant whirl-pools the size of cars develop along the Atchafalaya River due to Morganza flooding, May 15, 2011. Almost six years ago Katrina caused major destruction for much of Louisiana. That was mother nature, but this time it's part nature and part man. The Corp of Engineers opened the Morganza Spillway to divert water from heavily populated New Orleans and Baton Rouge easing pressure on the levees in the hope of avoiding potentially catastrophic floods. Floodwaters could reach up to 20 feet over the coming weeks, and some residents say they're angered that officials decided to spare Baton Rouge and New Orleans by diverting water to the basin. We can only hope and pray that the people of these areas won't lose everything, and can rebuild.

How many times have you said "A robot can't replace me", or "A robot can't do the things a human can do". Well now some folks are actually concerned about computer such as Watson taking their jobs someday. Martin Ford, author of The Lights in the Tunnel: Automation, Accelerating Technology and the Economy of the Future, in a Fortune magazine article, and others argue that computers and robots have the potential to swipe not only assembly-line jobs, such as the manufacturing positions that dropped nationwide by one-third over the last decade, but the "knowledge worker" jobs of the modern economy, such as radiologists and lawyers. After all, if a machine can beat humans at Jeopardy, workers may in fact have cause for concern.

Mercury Records is taking and old-school approach to finding talent. The company is looking for a male singer between the ages of 18 and 26 who can sing both rock and country. The label is asking singers to submit their versions of one of three songs: "Forever and Ever Amen" by Randy Travis, "Rock and Roll Never Forgets" by Bob Seger or "Darlin" by British singer Frankie Miller. If you don't know the songs, the Mecury website provides the songs for you to download. There's no contest, no reality show with rude judges to embarrass you on national T.V., and the submissions go straight to the A & R department. Details are at

I'll agree that Jennifer Lopez is a beautiful woman, but you also have to agree that her role as a judge on the highest rated and most popular show on television had a little something to do with her selection.

The costume for the new Wonder Woman couldn't get any tighter. The photo on the left is the new Wonder Woman, Adrianne Palicki. There are a lot of changes from what Lynda Carter (Photo on the right) wore in the original TV series. Adrianne has a forehead band that's a little different from Lynda. She's wearing a red bustier that's so tight she's spilling out over the top. Instead of wearing shorts like Lynda did , she's wearing shiny blue skintight pants. They decided not the change the knee-high boots, but as you can see Adrianne's are blue and Lynda's were red. No word on when this new Wonder Woman will make her debut on T.V. Out with the old, in with the new: Wonder Woman in her original form, carrying her Lasso of Truth, and as she appears now with jacket and leggings.

The Flu Season is here, and although there is no guarantee you won't catch it, there are some things you can do to limit your chances of catching it. According to health experts, here are some common surfaces where bacteria are most likely to lurk. Restaurant Menus Have you ever seen anyone wash off a menu? Lemon Wedges According to a study in the Journal of Environmental Health, nearly 70% of the lemon wedges perched on the rims of restaurant glasses contain disease-causing microbes. Condiment Dispensers It's the rare eatery that regularly bleaches it's condiment containers. And the reality is that many people don't wash their hands before eating. Restroom Door Handles Don't think you can escape the restroom without touching the door handle. Soap Dispensers Most of these containers are never cleaned, so bacteria grow as the soap scum builds up. And the bottoms are touched by dirty hands, so there's a continous culture feeding millions of bacteria. Grocery Carts The handles of almost two-thirds of the shopping carts tested in a study were contaminated with fecal bacteria. In fact the bacterial counts of the carts exceeded those of the average public restroom. Airplane Bathrooms When they tested microbes in the bathrooms of commercial jets, they found surfaces from faucets to doorknobs to be contaminated with E. coli. Doctor's Office A doctor's office is not the place to be if you're trying to avoid germs.

5 Outrageously Overpriced Products

Unless you're filthy rich, you've probably noticed that movie theater popcorn cost an arm and a leg. Still people shell out the big bucks for this greasy flick food. Of course movie theater snacks aren't the only budget busters. Here are five outrageously overpriced products that consumers can't seem to live without: 1. Movie popcorn -- At the grocery store microwave popcorn runs about $3 a box, and each box includes three bags. So why would you even consider paying a whopping $6 for a single medium-sized bag of popcorn at a movie theater? 2. Greeting cards -- Since when does a folded-up piece of paper with words cost $2.99 and up? 3. College textbooks -- As if college kids and their parents aren't financially drained enough, there's yet another inflated price they face: college textbooks. College students spend an average of $900 a year on textbooks and other supplies. 4. Printer ink -- The price of printers have come down considerably but the printer companies make their biggest bucks on ink cartridges. Over the life of your printer you'll probably pay more than 500% of the total price of the printer itself on ink cartridges. 5. Brank-name fashion -- Brand-name clothes are often marked up 500% to 1,000%. Yet fashion conscious consumers continue to drain their bank accounts and pile up massive amounts of debt to stay on the cutting edge of fashion.

What's with Lady Gaga wearing clothes made out of raw meat? Is there a cotton shortage? Is she trying to be voted the world's most sexiest woman by butchers? Someone help me understand! Lady Gaga says her meat dress was a commentary about being treated like meat, not eating it. She told Ellen DeGeneres on her show that it was tied to her protests against the U.S. military's ``Don't Ask, Don't Tell'' policy toward gay soldiers. She says it was not meant to disrespect vegans or vegetarians, but to say, ``If we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.'' TOP 5 ADVANTAGES TO WEARING CLOTHES MADE OUT OF RAW MEAT 1. Odds are pretty good someone else will be wearing the same cut. 2. When some guy says, "Nice rump roast," he'll actually be talking about your clothes. 3. You're already looking forward to summer and those thinner cuts. 4. And these weren't light-weight burritos either. Each was stuffed with beef, beans and the state's famous green chile. Earlier this year Joey, known as "Jaws," won the annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest at New York's Coney Island for the fourth year in a row. The wait is over. The Saints start the huge task of trying to repeat as Superbowl Champions this Thursday night against the team they had to beat to get to the Superbowl last season, the Minnesota Vikings. The game starts at 7:00pm in the Superdome, but before that happens, there's a big pre-game concert in Jackson Square featuring Taylor Swift and the Dave Matthews Band to get fans all excited about the game and the season. If you ask me I think the fans have been fired up since the draft. The big question that has been circulating around the water cooler is can the Saints repeat? Only Seven teams have won back to back super bowls(Pittsburgh won back to back twice) and nobody has ever won three in row. The five keys to repeating Super Bowl wins are: A solid defense, a leader at quarterback, coaching leadership, a good running game, and a few lucky breaks. The Saints had all five last year.
