The Most Anticipated Movies Of The Summer
Iron Man made another impressive showing over the weekend, bringing in 50-million dollars plus to keep it's number one ranking at the box office. The movie has now made well over 100-million dollars in just two week, and is expected to gross over 262-million dollars. But Speed Racer is having trouble getting out of the gate. It debuted at number 2 with just over 20-million dollars in ticket sales, and far bellow studio expectations. What movie are you most excited about seeing this summer?
Here's a list of the top 10 most anticipated movies coming out this summer according to a poll by movie ticketing web site Fandango.com.
1. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (May 22)
2. Batman, The Dark Knight (July 18)
3. Iron Man (May 9)
4. The Chronicles of Narnia:Prince Caspian
5. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (Aug. 1)
6. Get Smart (June 20)
7. The Incredible Hulk (June 13)
8. The X-Files: "I Want To Believe" (July 25)
9. Speed Racer (Now Playing)
10. Sex and the City (May 30)
Entertainment Weekly Magazine's top 10 money makers for the Summer.
1. Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (355.9 million)
After all these years, will audiences be interested in some old guy in a fedora?
2. The Chronicles Of Narnia:Prince Caspian (310.8 million)
The first movie made 292-million.
3. Hancock (284.4 million) (July 2)
Will Smith as a Superhero
4. Wall-E (280.3-million)
A Pixar film about a French rat
5. Iron Man (262.7-million)
He's no Spider Man, but he does has the distinction of being the first big blockbuster released, and it's the first of a possible sequel.
6. The Dark Knight (255-million)
The last Batman movie made 205-million, and this one is supposed to top that one on the strength of Heath Ledger's performace as the Joker, and the actor's unfortunate death after making the movie.
7. King Fu Panda (224.6 million)
Never underestimate the kid-pleasing power of cute animals with attitude.
8. The Mummy:Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor (176.5-million)
The last one made more than 200-million, but it's been seven years, and even with Brendan Fraiser back, this one will have a tougher time selling tickets.
9. The Incredible Hulk (147.2 million)
The last one made 132-million, and this should be an improvement.
10. Tropic Thunder (146.2-million)
It's got a killer Tom Cruise cameo and will be summer's top comedy, but an R rating will limit it's earning potential.
Pets And People
I was reading this article where it says there's a powerful connection between people and their pets. Research has shown you'll live a longer, happier life if you open your heart to anything from a dog to a parrot. The kind of pet you choose can be a direct reflection on the type of person you really are. According to psychologists, there's a powerful connection between people and their pets.
So what does your favorite pet say about you?
Birds -- You're fun-loving and adventurous. Folks in your inner circle know you'll try anything once. The trouble is, you don't always plan ahead to avoid catastrophe.
Cats -- Just like the feline, you're picky about who you lavish your affection on. You're a natural-born leader who's not afraid to stand up for your rights and take charge of a situation.
Dogs -- You're a straight shooter, and your friends often ask for your advice and thoughtful observations. You're a loyal and true friend that never betrays a confidence. Best of all, when you give your friendship, it's for life.
Fish -- You're a creative person who appreciates beauty in all it's forms. Friends and family love your generous spirit and unselfish approach to life. You're also perceptive and observant -- a person who's always in the know.
Rabbits -- Rabbit lovers are shy yet you have a curious nature, ready for any and everything.
Gerbils/
Guinea Pigs -- Your loved ones are sometimes confused by your behavior. you can be shy and standofish or outgoing and full of spunk, depending on your mood. But despite the ups and downs, you're a popular and well-loved person.
Pot-belly Pigs -- You're intelligent, funny and affectionate. Life is something to be enjoyed to the fullest for you.But although your friends are the center of your life, you may have a commitment phobia when it comes to love.
Johnny Scott's Bio
Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, I've been on the airwaves of New Orleans since 1983, and have been hosting mornings on Magic 101.9 for over 14 Years. I have wanted to live and work in New Orleans since I got my first Radio job over 30 years ago. The city has a mystic way of captivating you, and never letting you go.
I never thought that I would wind up in a career where all you do is talk to people, play great music and get paid for it! Life is wonderful. I enjoy getting up every morning at 4:00am and going on the air to provide a stress free drive to work for my listeners. As far as hobbies go, it’s Bowling, Bowling and more Bowling. You’ll find me at a bowling establishment somewhere on any given day or night. When I’m not on the lanes, I’m at home spending a quite evening with my family, and a little Madden Football mixed in somewhere in between.
Hurricane Katrina destroyed our homes, but not our spirit. It’s going to take some time, but I truly believe we will rebuild New Orleans. I'm proud to be joining you in that effort!
Thanks again for making me a part of your morning! I'd love to hear from you, drop me an e-mail...here's my address (just click and it should open up in your Outlook, or just do the old "cut & paste" thing):
