Feel Good Tips

Feel Good Tips

It’s probably safe to say, everybody wants to feel good. And not just feel good, but feel your absolute best.

Magic 101.9 has teamed up with Earthsavers, New Orleans #1 Spa and Store, to share some “tried and true” ideas for these Feel Good Tips.

Color Therapy

Did you know that the color you choose for your clothes, your home, your office, or your car can have a profound effect on you? Even people that are blind are affected by the colors around them—and how does that work? According to scientists, every color has a distinct energy vibration you can actually feel inside your body.

For example, the color red stimulates, excites and warms you. It increases your heart rate, your brain waves, and your breathing.  Blue, on the other hand, has the opposite, calming effect.  And yellow is the most memorable of all colors.  Whenever you want to remember something, write it down on a yellow piece of paper.

At Earthsavers, we recommend paying attention to the colors around you and think about how they make you feel.

Exfoliation

Did you know that by exfoliating your entire body, you can invigorate yourself and eliminate toxins at the same time? Exfoliation is a well-known rejuvenation practice that’s been used all over the world for 5,000 years. It’s a simple thing you can do in just three minutes in the shower but don’t underestimate how effective it can be or how good it can make you feel.

When you exfoliate your skin, you draw out impurities from your pores…stimulate your circulation…and bring oxygen and nutrients from your blood to feed and nourish your skin cells.

Here’s the best way to do it. We recommend a natural fiber cloth or a skin polishing towel, but definitely something slightly abrasive. Using a shower gel or soap, start with your legs and move up towards your heart, brushing vigorously. It feels great.

Aromatherapy

Did you know there’s a way to change your mood in 20 seconds or less? You may have heard of “aromatherapy”, but I’m here to tell you just how powerful it is and how to incorporate it into your life.

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils for almost immediate physical and mental changes. It works through your sense of smell or through your skin and takes only 20 seconds to enter your blood stream.

So, for example, if you’re angry or frustrated, lavender essential oil can calm you down immediately. Peppermint, when you apply it to your temples, is great for headaches. And eucalyptus can help you fight colds and the flu.

Remember, you need therapeutic grade pure essential oils, like the kind we have at Earthsavers. Otherwise you’re just getting something that smells good, but doesn’t really work.   - Jackie from Earthsavers

Flaxseed Oil

Did you know you can help prevent 70% of degenerative disease by taking flaxseed oil every day?  It’s amazing but true.

Flaxseed oil provides essential fatty acids that are vital for health, but your body doesn’t make them and they’re rarely in the foods you eat.  In fact, scientific studies have proven that fatty acids play a crucial role in the functioning of your entire body.  With a daily dose of flaxseed oil, you can lubricate your bones and joints to ease arthritis pain and inflammation…help lower your blood pressure and cholesterol…boost your energy…and substantially reduce your risk of cancer and heart disease.

And you can see the benefits of taking flaxseed oil. Your skin will have a healthy glow because it’s hydrated from the inside out. For best results, always take cold-pressed organic flaxseed oil and for more information, come into Earthsavers.

Sea Salt

Replace your table salt with Sea Salt.
Did you know you can change your health instantly by adding one condiment to your table? We’ve all heard salt is bad for you and that’s partly true. Table salt is generally not very good for you, but sea salt you actually need in your diet.

Your body is 60% salt water and maintaining a proper electrolyte balance is essential for feeling your best. Sea salt does that with over 80 trace minerals, and if you don’t get them, you could experience cramps, dizziness, exhaustion, or other health problems. But there’s an easy way to change that. Just replace your table salt with sea salt and it tastes better anyway. At Earth-savers, we recommend going to your health food store and buying Celtic sea salt or any other unrefined sea salt.

Mindfulness

Be in the moment.
How many times a day do you do only one thing at a time? If you’re like most people, you’re probably
juggling email, the cell phone, text messages, Facebook, and kids, all while you’re driving. We all know multitasking is stressful, but according to recent studies, it actually slows you down, increases your chance of mistakes, and even lowers your IQ.

So here’s a simple solution that’s really powerful: mindfulness, which is bringing your mind to focus on what is happening in the present moment. Do the dishes when you’re doing the dishes. Fold clothes when you’re folding clothes. Drive and just enjoy the drive. Any activity done mindfully is a form of meditation. It might take you some practice, but it’ll get easier as you do it and you’ll realize how distracted you’ve been all this time.
