Everytime there's a holiday when I get the day off, it only reminds me of having to actually work 4-day out of the week. So I thought I'd share this little humor with you to give you an idea of what goes through my mind.

Things I Would Love About Only Having To Work 4-Days Out Of The Week.

5. Frankly, it's the way I should be accustomed to working.
4. It further proves I can do five days worth of work in four days.
3. Only four days of traffic to deal with.
2. By the time I remember that Tuesday is not Monday, it's Wednesday already.
1. It gives me enough of a taste that we should try a 3-day work week.

Perfect thing to do this weekend

National WWII Museum Marks Memorial Day with Special Commemoration Honoring Fallen Service Members
 – To commemorate the brave men and women who lost their lives ensuring our nation’s freedom, and stress to all Americans the importance of remembering these heroes, The National WWII Museum has planned a day of special events and ceremonies for Memorial Day, May 28, 2012. The events will begin at 10 a.m. with a patriotic band performance followed by a Memorial Day ceremony. The ceremony will include special tributes by relatives of service members who lost their lives during World War II.
Other scheduled events for the day include a performance by the Museum’s Victory Belles at 2:15 p.m., followed by the traditional observance of a moment of silence at 3 p.m. CDT.
For those unable to attend the ceremony in person,, a website created by the Museum, tells the stories of service men and women who died in defense of our nation’s freedom. The site features images and artifacts from the Museum’s collection and offers readers a number of ways they can honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Museum’s new US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center, scheduled to open in January of 2013, will pay tribute to all of the branches of the US Armed Forces who were active in the war, including the Coast Guard and Merchant Marines. The pavilion will contain a spectacular collection of macro artifacts including a restored B-17 G Flying Fortress, as well as an interactive submarine experience based on the final mission of the USS Tang, and an exhibit featuring a wall of images of all 464 WWII Medal of Honor recipients with interactive kiosks detailing the military and personal history of each

The 20th annual New Orleans Wine and Food Experience is this week at the Morial New Orleans Convention Center. It's a five day celebration of drinking and eating, with proceeds going to the Second Harvest Food Bank, as well as for educational culinary programs.

I'll drink to that.

Donna Summer tribute

The last time I saw her I guess it was on American Idol back in 2008 I think and she looked great and sounded perfect. Sad to hear Donna Summer died Thursday morning after a battle with lung cancer. Lovingly named the "Queen of Disco," the 63-year-old was in Florida at the time of her death. The 5-time Grammy award winner rose to fame in the '70s with hits like "Hot Stuff," "Bad Girls" and "Love to Love You Baby." All played on Magic thru the years. Following the news of Summer's passing, the singer's family released a statement saying that they "are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy." Donna Summer was working on a forthcoming album at the time of her death. Summer is survived by her husband, Brooklyn Dreams co-founder Bruce Sudano, their two children -- Brooklyn and Amanda -- and her daughter, Mimi, from a previous marriage.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, at 10:00am at all Ticketmaster outlets, but you can win tickets in the first five rows before they go on sale by listening to me every morning this week.

Here's a little sample of Nora's work.

  • To have my 14-year-old answer a question without rolling her eyes in that "Why is this person my mother?" way.
  • Five pounds of chocolate that won't add twenty.
  • A shower without a child peeking through the curtain with a "Hi ya, Mom!" just as I put razor to my ankle.
  • A fulltime cleaning person who looks like Brad Pitt.
  • For my teenager to announce, "Hey, Mom! I got a full scholarship and a job all in the same day!"
  • A grocery store that doesn't have candy/gum/cheap toys displayed at the checkout line.
  • To have a family meal without a discussion about bodily secretions.
  • To be able to step on a plane with my toddlers and not have some pencil-neck-yuppie-geek moan, "Oh, no! Why me?"

Happy Mother's Day

Joshua Ledet, currently a Top 4 contestant in FOX’s American Idol, is scheduled to come to Louisiana this Saturday, May 12 for a Homecoming Pep Rally if he continues as a Top 3 finalist.  American Idol has confirmed today a basic schedule of events for Ledet’s homecoming.
On Saturday, May 12, at 2:30 p.m., Ledet will ride in a parade on Sampson Street in Westlake.  The parade will be staged by American Idol and a local committee.
The community is invited to see the parade and cheer Ledet on as he rides through his hometown.  Parade viewers are strongly encouraged to bring posters and signage to wish Joshua good luck and let him know how proud his hometown is of his accomplishments.
After the parade, the public is invited to the Burton Coliseum, located at 7001 Gulf Highway in Lake Charles, La., for Joshua Ledet’s Homecoming Pep Rally at 6 p.m.  The pep rally will feature live entertainment and several songs by Ledet.  Pep rally attendees are encouraged to bring posters and signage to support Joshua.
It is possible that Ledet will have a special appearance at the Contraband Days, Louisiana Pirate Festival, following the pep rally prior to the fireworks at the Lake Charles Civic Center, located at 900 Lakeshore Drive.
